According to Good Trouble Lives On, this year’s event is a “three-day national mobilization to honor the legacy of Congressman John Lewis by doing what he loved most - organizing, acting, and registering voters… The weekend will serve as a kick-off to voter engagement, registration, and activations leading up to the midterm elections.

Coined by civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis, "Good Trouble" is the act of coming together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice.  The power of collective direct action resulted in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and today, that same collective action can protect voting rights from the challenges posed today.

Anchored by a commitment to exercising our sacred freedom to vote, the weekend will bring together activists, grassroots organizations, faith leaders, and community members for a unified collective push towards supporting eligible voters in making their voices heard through voting and organizing.”

Change begins by teaching communities about their history, rights, and the power of civic participation.

• Learn about recent changes to Utah voting laws

• Test your knowledge and learn about Utah voter rules and rights in a competitive quiz (arrive by 10:15 a.m. to participate)

• Share your ideas as we prepare a list of demands and questions for Utah candidates

• Sign-up to volunteer at future voter registration events

Although Southern Utah Indivisible won't be hosting any live events on July 19, we encourage you to “preach” to your loved ones, or to your faith community of any religion or tradition. Good Trouble Lives On suggests dedicating “at least 5 minutes of service to honor John Lewis, to lift up the moral imperative for all of us to exercise our freedom to vote & fight for voting rights, and to encourage voter registration and volunteerism. If Sunday does not align with your faith's day of worship, you can participate on whatever day best fits your faith."
